Description Steel shot abrasive is used in shotblaster streaming machines to mechanically prepare the concrete substrate for coating. The tiny steel pellets are used as media that is blasted out of the shotblaster onto the concrete, and then is recycled back into the machine. Bags of steelshot media come in s-330 grit size. This is the most common mesh size of shot for preparing concrete surfaces. Shotblasting is the recommended surface prep for moisture mitigation systems like REV M.V.P.. It is also used before epoxy, polyaspartic, and urethane coatings. Shotblasting provides an excellent profile for coating adhesion. A clean and virtually dust free surface is left behind. Excess steel shot may need to be picked up with a rolling magnet and vacuumed.
